DeaC ----- maybe plausible!! I've been stumped over the 'mystery' of Helen Brown. The detective work is still ongoing here hehe.

S.F. ------ the 19th century guess is possible too! So far - my previous guesses have been :

Some botanist from the past named Robert Brown ---- a fairly long time ago, who's mother's name happened to be Helen Brown ..... but google also says 'nee Taylor'.

And then some orchid community people mentions a name of Joanne Brown, who was probably well known in orchid circles before. So I wonder if she might be linked to somebody named Helen Brown heheh.

Or other possibilities, such as somebody named Helen Brown that was a worker (or otherwise) at the orchid company (not existing today though) called 'Stewart Orchids' --- aka Fred A. Stewart Inc.

Sort of unfortunate how the orchid cross is Memoria Helen Brown ....... but information about the name seems to be out of reach, or maybe even lost these days. But that's ok. Maybe some information may surface in the future!

I noticed some pink colour patches on the lip, which is easy to see with our eyes, but the camera can't pick it up as much ----- even though we can just make it out in these pics here.

Just an extra upload ------ that shows the effect of sun on orchid flowers like this kind. When kept in the shade, the flowers can stay greeny-yellow. But if the flowers are kept in bright light ----- sunny conditions, then the flowers will become a nice yellow colour.

So we can choose to put the orchid where we want when the flowers open up. This one stayed in a sunny spot.

Shadeflower ------ quick update! This morning, when I was just taking a look at some flower buds of a different orchid - a Rth. Free Spirit - I got taken by surprise by a flower scent. Then took a few seconds to think where that scent was coming from. And ------ to my surprise --- it looks like this particular Mem. Helen Brown does produce some nice scent ---- and not super weak after-all.

I checked by smelling the Mem. Helen Brown flowers right up close. And sure enough ------ that was it. Nice pleasant scent for sure. Definitely not strong ------ it was in the weak to mild range.

The Rth. Free Spirit buds are sort of next door ----- or quite nearby (as seen in the lower-left-hand-side of the pic). Thanks to these buds that I was able to even make this comment. Also thanks to you for asking about the scent as well!

Also uploading one pic of the now-yellow coloured Rlc. Memoria Helen Brown flowers. That's what happens when the flowers aren't kept in the shade. They get a nice yellow in the sun.
