Thank you all, guys, for your replies and welcome. I enjoyed every single post and diversity of opinions delivered in style, I am certainly with the right group indeed. Of course the advice needs to be put through a filter of climate conditions, growing arrangements and geographical parameters such as elevation for example. However, I already received some valuable tips and picked few awesome ideas from this site, for which I am thankful.
I am a bit disappointed to hear that people do not share bloom pictures as much as one would expect from this site. As to me, I can't wait for my high bloom season (November - January) to share my catt pictures that hopefully will please this audience, as I am limited in space and therefore very selective in what I keep in my collection.
Camille, my maxillaria "Yamada" smells heavenly, this one flower fills the room with sweet coconut fragrance all day long. I was actually stunned that something else bloomed for me that is not a cattleya, and was on a fence at first on how I feel about this species, but that lasted the whole of 10 minutes, until I smelled it. It is AM/AOS plant, the flower is symmetrical, firm, with lovely creamy petal color. The plant has been in my possession in less than a year and already doubled in size.
By the way, do people sell plant divisions on this site? Or is it considered a bad taste here? I am always in search for next cattleya to care for.

Comparing with other forums, I don't know, but in my opinion, that is not true.

You are wise to understand advice needs to be filtered and applied through your particular conditions, environment, and culture. That's half the game right there!

Folks share bloom pictures all the time. In off-topic we even have a thread for non-orchid blooms, a thread about tomatoes, a pet pictures thread, etc. Shadeflower likes to bash forum members from time to time. "grumpy guy" is not exactly how I would term him. Most members and moderators ignore it, unless he gets way out of line. There's advice that definitely needs to be run through your filters.

There's a section called "Classifieds" where one can buy, sell, trade orchids and related products. Not bad taste, and if you post in the wrong place a moderator can assist. A lot of folks here get to know each other after time, and also trade or sell at times based on a photo of something... example.... A member posts a picture of a Catt. You find yourself "needing" a division. You can PM that member and inquire if they might have a division to sell or trade. We just do that via PM instead of via classifieds.

FINALLY, Welcome to Orchid Board! Enjoy!

PS on top right of your profile when you post, I suggest you give a location or growing zone. It's helpful when you ask a question about something happening with a plant.

@ Sade: what a lovely setup, healthy plants, beautiful blooms, thank you for sharing!
@WaterWitchin: Thank you for most complete guide to this site and its customs! I love the idea of sharing and exchanging the divisions among the members.
