Laelia milleri - Is this a spike?
It has a different shape from the previous growths. As I never managed to make it bloom, I'm in doubt.
What do you, experienced milleri growers, think?

I don't think so...it's just like any other Catt, from a sheath

Well, there are several Cattleyas that bloom from the sheath as the new growth is maturing. For example, C. aclandiae throws it's buds as the leaves are opening and kind "vomits" out flowers (at least in my mind  ). |

I understand what you mean. 
I have a Laelia vasconcelosiana that never produced a sheath, or better, it was an open sheath that looked like a new leave with something inside (that later turned into a spike).
Clearly the shape of this new growth (or whatever it is) is different.

Fingers crossed for a spike! I don't know much about this species, so I'm definitely interested to see the progression. Please add updates. |
