Rlc. Hawaiian Prominence 'America' AM/AOS is one of the best compact growing Catts with red flowers. This grex was registered in 2000 (originator = Carmela), and awarded in 2008. There is a 2nd award to a different clone in 2011. Thus, it is a fairly recent hybrid.

I have purchased a number of seedlings, with this plant as one of the parents. I have bloomed several, but to date the results have been disappointing, so I have not taken any photos.

The latest to bloom is a different story. It is not quite award quality (due to the 'notch' on top of the petals), but hopefully that won't repeat in future bloomings. The plant is compact (PBs about 4" tall), and the flower is exactly 5" NS.

That is a beauty. Just having such a flower on a plant that size would make it desireable. Aren't all orchid growers always looking for more space?

I got it from Fred Clarke (Sunset Valley Orchids). If he is out of this cross, he probably has something similar in another cross.
