Default Brassavola cordata (subulifolia)

Went to the garden show this weekend, to see my long time buddy David Bird. He's a breeder, retailer, etc, etc, and he and his oldest daughter Vashti forget more in a day about orchids than I've known in a lifetime. I went to visit, not to buy. But of course he brought a couple of half priced "deals" for me. He knows what a sucker I am.

I got my first Brass. recently from a beloved friend, Brassavola nodosa. Some of you may remember me splitting it mostly in bark, a start in SH, to see how it would fare. That's a story for another day. So of course he brings me a big ol' Brassavola cordata. I'm putting it into SH after it blooms. So now with two, I'm officially growing Brass. now.

And "they", whoever "they" are, say it has a really brisk citrusy scent at night. This is now officially confirmed after a couple of evenings sitting by it. Who knew?

Beautiful. The description of the scent being citrusy sounds great! I haven't even heard of orchids having citrusy scents before, so this is very nice to hear indeed.

Off topic but related by fragrance... for citrus, hard to beat the lemony Rhyncholaelia digbyana, especially in the evening.

Beautiful! This is one I've been looking for as well. Tougher to find than I remember.
