Your first catt bloom will just be a matter of time! And it's definitely possible that this sheath on your orchid could be the sheath for the first bloom.

I have one phal only - a mini phal, and just waiting for the buds to develop a bit more. I purchased it in November last year, with flowers on it. Then I snipped the flower spike - but an adequate portion that stayed green, and is still green. But the latest spike sprouted and was unnoticed until it popped out from under a leaf. The new spike was hidden under the leaf when it was developing. The flower buds are doing ok! Situation normal and under control!!

DD - I decided to very carefully split the sheath ----- in case the little bud gets stuck in there. But even then, impossible to say what's going to happen - so will keep everybody posted. Hopefully it makes it to the flower opening stage, and we get to see what comes of it hehehe.

The bud is really quite small ---- the leaf is a little less than 6.5 cm long.

I added an extra pic to show two larger buds (originally the sam plant - as I mentioned I made divisions) at the very top of the pic ----- expected to open up soon.
