I have a weakness for Brassavola nodosa hybrids, so when I came across some of these at Waldor Orchids, I could not resist.

I have now bloomed 2 of the 3 young plants I obtained. The first had a 'typical' nodosa pattern lip, while the second one produced a really unique flower. Still waiting for #3.

This is a classic example, of why you should always buy more than one, when faced with unbloomed seedlings.

I realize that most growers do not have the space to grow 6 or 12 of the same thing, but even 2 or 3 can produce something unique for you.

In this case, I will probably keep both, and offer divisions when available. #1 is already breaking new growths from the back bulbs, and I have cut the rhizome on #2 to force it to do the same. I am leaving #3 alone, until I see the flower.

The photo of #1 was taken on April 20th. It is in bloom again now =higher light intensity and higher temperatures. Under these conditions, it produces a solid purple/maroon lip!

I have finally bloomed the 3rd seedling, which presented a different color pattern from the other two.
