Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' FINALLY! Female
Default Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft' FINALLY!

I've been yearning to buy a "black" orchid for years, but never found one at a nursery or orchid fest. Generally, I prefer to buy orchids that I find in person - I guess I like the hunt, rather than buying online.

Well, after a few years it finally happened! Main Street Orchids was at the CNY Orchid Fest in Syracuse and Michael had several Monnierara Millenium Magic 'Witchcraft'. Here it is!

I saw them there and was torn on buying one. I think Piping Rock had them as well. I had to limit myself and bought a pricey paph instead.

DeeP0, are you a member of the CNY Orchid society?

I almost bought a paph from Marlow, but went with the Monnierara and a mini mounted phal. Both from Main Street. I was glad to learn about Main Street. I used to live in PA and would go to Parkside, but they closed a couple years ago. I had no idea that Main Street is close to Parkside.

Al's Orchids has this black Monnierara millenium magic witchcraft. I recently saw them when I was visiting there. I believe he has it on his website. Yours has a gorgeous color!

I've not heard of Main Street and I've been to Parkside, shame they closed. My son and daughter-in-law live in Bethlehem and I know she would love to know about Main Street. I will have to let her know she still has a neighborhood orchid vendor.

Congratulations on your find, it's beautiful!

I'm not sure if Main Street is open with regular hours, like Parkside. It might be by appointment. They are located in Perkasie.

I've seen Monnierara online before, but honestly I've never bought an orchid online. There is something about the thrill of finding your unicorn in person that I'm always after.

Outstanding colour I think. Nice find.

This is a cool cross. But I think you photographed the back of the flowers!

I'm so sorry for not responding! I've been busy and haven't been on for more than a few minutes the past few weeks. Anyway, no I'm not a member of the CNYOS. I live about an hour and a half downstate. I'm a member of the Southern Tier Orchid Society.

The only two plants I bought were a Euchile mariae from Mainstreet and a Paph delrosi from Piping Rock. I was able to pass on the Monnierara because I have a Fdk. After Dark 'SVO Black Pearl,' which is black enough for me.
