My edit didn't seem to update, so there are the male flowers.

AvantGardern asked about getting female flowers - from what I have been told it is light levels. This makes sense for my greenhouse - I face west and I'm shaded by some large Oaks - when the female flowers set the trees had yet to leaf out, so I had higher light levels that this recent spike.

Female flowers come from both high levels and maturity of the plant. Bigger, older plants are more likely to throw female flowers and smaller plants are more likely to throw male flowers.

I know that there is a difference but how is it that there are male and female flowers again?
