I'm no expert, but I believe it is. This is about the time of year you should start seeing growth since you live in a warmer environment. In MO, I usually see growth starting in March. Out of curiosity, why are you questioning if it looks ok. Is there a particular thing you are concerned about?

Well its the growth that looks oddly like a spike on such a small growth. W the new growth. That is what was throwing me off

It appears to look like a new growth with a spike growing at the same time. Some species have some habits of growing first then flower before of during rest, or grow at the same time with the spike.

Your plant looks healthy but keep the water out of the leaves of the new growth.

Whew thanks! Thats what I was hoping for that this would be normal esque. For these types. Definitely keeping out of leaf passages. Thanks! I was afraid this may be a terminal spike!

Talking

With orchids, they are a mystery. Your catasetum is another mystery but they do get big if given the proper conditions.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." is a good quote for this plant since its young with a backbulb to support it and its making a lot of roots at the same time.

Yes, new growth and spiking occur simultaneously with blooming sized tenebrosums and sometimes their hybrids. I have a few hybrids that are spiking and starting new growth now. Congrats! It's a happy plant

Yep, this species blooms and grows early, with spikes coming out at long before the growth is mature. Congrats!
