Default First Bloom - New Mormodes Hybrid From SVO

The exact cross here isn't nameed yet, but here are the parents:
Mormodes Ignea 'Orange Blaze' 4588 x Mormodes Aftermath 'Nuclear Fallout' AM/AOS 5888

I was expecting it to be a little more dayglow orange, but it's still looking pretty good. Double spike with 11 flowers for first bloom seedling. Has a fragrance too, though smells like rootbeer coughdrops, lol.

Took a few pictures in different lighting, indoor lower light, outdoors and one where it currently sits in my (currently overcrowded) orchid terrarium.

Gorgeous color and I love the upward orientation of the spikes. Great show for a first bloom seedling!

A really lovely hybrid. One of the charms of Mormodes is that twisted, off-center column - just a bit of asymmetry that "thumbs its nose" at the usual orchid pattern. I can't think of another genus that does that.

I just don't see hardly any Mormodes out there and I hope that starts to change.

Very nice! I think I got this cross over the summer as well.

Pull the pollinia out and the column will rotate! Another amazing feature of Mormodes!
