What are you doing to get so many female flowers??

I haven’t ever had a female flower yet… your medium looks like lava rock?? That could be the difference, I grow mine in moss… and water them twice a day…. My SVO 8125 is flowering for the 3rd time this season…

I wish I could share your enthusiasm for this year! As far as the orchids go, they are doing great. It's going to be a good orchid year for sure!

The bad news is that I was "surplussed" at my school. Enrollment is so low after the covid catastrophe, they had to "surplus" a lot of teachers (that just means they fire you for no reason).

They tell me that if enrollment increases, that I am welcome to reapply for my job I have had for four years, but I don't think I want to go back there after the way they treated me. I'm applying with other districts. I'm a special ed teacher who is also certified in English, Latin, and High School Science, which is a very unusual combination.

It's hard to find a sped teacher who is even certified in the subject are they are supposed to teach, much less one who can teach just about anything but math. I'm not worried about finding a job; I just feel they kid of did we wrong in my old district and it hurts a little.

Maybe this will work out for the better and I will find a school I love even more. Time will tell.

And even though I know I can find a job, being unemployed is terrifying.

@JScott -
So sorry to hear about job situation. Yes, unemployment is scary. (Been there, done that, have the T-shirt... ) I wish you speedy success in your search for a new one. One for which you don't have to move if you don't want to.

Beautiful plants coconut! I'm impressed. Now, I don't want to hijack your thread or anything, but I got a call today, and I have an interview for a position teaching biology at a very desirable school district, so things and maybe starting to look up! I know I won't be unemployed for long, but like we said before, being unemployed under and circumstance is terrifying. It makes you feel so worthless. But anyway, maybe I've reached a turning point and things will start falling into place.

HIJACK ALERT!!

Just to add a little perspective to the unemployment issue, For years I worked in seasonal employment where we would work 3 months and be on unemployment for 9. Back then I had no responsibility for anyone but myself, so getting by on part time jobs and going to college worked out. There is always another job for you. Relax if you get some time off. Take a deep breath and enjoy the freedom. Good luck on this next opportunity. I wish the best for you.

NOW BACK TO THE SUBJECT I SO RUDELY INTERRUPTED
