It just becomes part of the story of your journey with that plant.

I have a neighbor who bought a gram scriptum (some cool variety) and waited through ten years of nothing, iguana eats a spike, curly tail eats a spike, and a Hurricane and she finally got two spikes this year!

And a great story.

Stay up. She will deliver

Unfortunately, that will happen every year. It's why I stopped growing Stanhopeas in Texas.

ugh, that is a gut punch....

have either of you used a cooling system for any part of the collection like a mister or a swamp cooler? it might be an epically dumb question but i hate to admit defeat lol

There does come a point where I admit defeat. (I promise that I will kill no more Den cuthberstsonii... ) But far too soon to give up! DC's suggestion of a misting system might help - sure worth a try.

Name? It's gorgeous. Looks a lot like Ctsm.Donna Wise (which is very likely in its parentage) but I know that Fred has gone far beyond that one with his breeding.

And it’s a stunner.

Thanks! It does have a lot of Ctsm Donna Wise, from both parents. With an extra shot of Ctsm. tenebrosum to get that gorgeous dark color. Fred is a master artist...took a really good hybrid, and further improved on it.
