Coryanthes macrantha Doing Well, err, Better Male
Default My Mistake!

So it turns out that my previous photo on this thread was of a mislabeled orchid. After doing some research (I'm currently trying to compile a fully inclusive list of fragrant species), it turns out that the photo above is a Coryanthes verrucolineata. I just so happened to find a macrantha at Looking Glass Orchids in Brevard, NC, so now I've got that check mark back in place.

Heres the real macrantha attached below. Certainly different.

This is the second mislabeled plant I have discovered in my collection this year. How often do you all encounter these "surprises?"

It happens... even to Andy Phillips of Andy's Orchids occasionally. If he blooms the plant before it's sold (which he prefers to do), often he catches the error. But he gets burned too once in awhile.
