Ray, I get what you're saying here, but it's not like buying random crosses is our only choice. Can't we eliminate some of this problem by buying mericlones of particularly special individuals? Moreover, aren't some crosses proven to be particularly reliable, albeit variable? There is a very large thread on here about everblooming orchids. I would think that trying to make that list has all the same problems as this one, but that did not stop people from coming up with a very large list. I am very new to serious orchid growing, so if there is something I'm confused about please enlighten me.
