Repotme.com, Kelly's corner are two favs. Everyone has their own. I use plain clay pots. I like the look and aireation. If you want to dress them up, I just drop them into a decorative catch pot.

Here are a couple vendors I have used for orchid supplies:

Their slot pot is what I am currently using for a few of my orchids. Or the plastic pots with no slots but plenty of holes on the bottom work well, too. They also sell the matching clear plastic saucers.

This vendor also sells quality pre-mixed potting media. You will find special mixes for Phals, or you can buy the ingredients separately. I myself have all of my Phals in straight Orchiata bark, but others like to mix chunky bark with moss or other ingredients. If you tend to underwater, the moss would help retain moisture. If you tend to overwater, straight bark chunks would probably be best. I do not believe the "orchid mix" commonly sold at our local stores is the best quality.

There are plenty of orchid supply vendors out there. Just doing an Internet search for something like "plastic orchid pots" will give you lots of choices. Be aware that the specialty vendors (understandably) have significant shipping charges unless you order a very large amount of stuff, so make sure you understand the total cost before you place your order.

I have also ordered supplies through Amazon at very reasonable costs.

One thing I should warn you about. An orchid in a plastic pot will be very lightweight and prone to tipping over easily. Ask me how I know. So I am very careful now to place my orchids in areas where they are not likely to be knocked over by the humans or the dogs.

The plastic pots are certainly not the only way to grow orchids, but I believe they are great for those getting started in the hobby. It's really easy to tell when they need watering and easy to see the health of the roots.

P.S. I see that Dolly beat me to it with the same two vendor recommendations.

I don't know why you felt the need to post this, it's not appropriate. The OP is clearly a beginner, wanting to learn andwanting to do the best for his/her orchids but not quite knowing how to do that yet.

its okay, i like the diversity. it brings color to my life.

also, i am more aware of the temperament of this board so i can adjust myself accordingly.

given the quote in his signature, it seems he is predisposed to have little faith in man. it may also be so that man has repeatedly failed him. needless to say i am more able to empathize with his sentiment. (i use the term 'man' in its all encompassing sense, as in mankind)

The problem with written messages and internet in general is that it's sometimes hard to assess the intent and tone of a message. So I prefer to address potential issues before a thread gets out of hand, and to avoid having feelings hurt (people can be a lot more sensitive about it than you are!)

Oh, I was referring to answers like yours.

I thought "hot air" was obvious. I suppose it was a bit too obtuse for most.

I believe that an attentive moderator would have stated such a comment in a PM rather than for all to see. I think at this point I'll just give up and go away for a spell. Ta ta, amigos.

If that's 'reaming' I don't know what you think about real insults. What I wrote is , not wrong, tone is sometimes IMPOSSIBLE to interepret in a written message. Did I interpret your post wrong? Probably. But I guess people aren't allowed to make a bad judgment calls anymore.
