So I left my orchid outside this morning, hoping it needed more sunlight but now when I came home from work I noticed that a few leaves have turned white
Seems like I'm doing more damage to the poor plant

Phals really do not need a great deal of light, they do not tolerate much direct sun. If you take an indoor phal and suddenly put it in full sun all day you will have problems. If you think a plant needs more sun, a gradual approach is better for the plant. Most phals do well in lower indirect light.

Your plant may recover, but it will take months, so be patient. If the growing area in the center got cooked, though, the plant will not make it.

Phalaenopsis don't ever need sun shining directly on their leaves.
