Greenhouse finally finished.

Well, the work has finally come to an end, all bar the snagging, and I got to move the orchids across. Here's what it all looks like.

The odd looking yellow thing at one end is a chest of drawers for holding stuff. It's made from left over angle iron, and some yellow bakers' trays that someone dumped by the bins. The sheets on top of the worktop at that end is raw cork, that a friend of mine got me. (There are cork forests nearby.) They will be fixed to the wall, and I shall try growing a Darwin's orchid up them.

Hmmmm. Lets see.... In a couple of years the benches will have doubled or tripled in width and the center aisle will be 3' wide. Or another option, a new bench will be constructed in the middle leaving 2 2' aisles on each side.... A real labor of love. Well done!

That has the unhealthy ring of prophecy about it. I suspect if I do that tho I will end up in the divorce courts.

Thank you. The woodshed was a riot of colour as so may of them were blooming away. I just hope that they do as well in the greenhouse.

Ok, so the frame is nicely finishe angle iron. Is this a custom order? Did you perform the metal work?

The roof appears to be clear corrugated plastic. Can you confirm?

What really intrigues me is the side panels? They appear to clear to be polycarbonate. Can you share what the materials are, and a some info on the cost per square foot?

The frame is 4cm by 4 cm box section, yeah, I did all the cutting and welding (my first time with a MIG welder). The roof is corrugated plastic, and the wall panels are all 1 cm twinwall polycarbonate. All the four end panels at each end open to turn it into a tunnel when the weather warms up.

I didn't record the cost as it would probably have horrified me. The paint and mastic were way more than I thought, as I just had to buy more and more. Take the floor. I wanted to paint it with a good quality floor paint that would take some traffic, so I got a 60 euro tin that promised 48sq metres coverage. Ha! In the end I needed two such tins plus an extra litre. I didn't have to pour the floor which was a saving.
The total plastic bill was about 900, I think the steel was a bit more than a grand, the white angle to hold the panels was 300, so it must have been between 3 and 4K. That does give me 6x4 metres of floor space, 15 metres of bench at half a metre wide and 6 metres of bench at a third of a metre wide. About 17 euros per sq foot, I think.
