Most orchids never routinely see more than about 25 ppm total dissolved solids (TDS). A 20-13-14 fertilizers provides 264 ppm N per teaspoon per gallon (487 ppm of N, P, & K - and that does not include any of the minor and trace elements in the formula).

I feed at every watering, so use about 30 ppm N. if I fed weekly or less often, I'd go with 100 ppm N.

I have been using Buffaloam since this post ( from Menards ). Biggest benefit...to me... is that it is completely odourless ! I really think my seedlings are doing better ( posted on other threads ) and it seems to have initiated a lot of new root growth in them. Of course that could be due to other factors, I don't know. I use 1 teaspoon per gallon of water, at every watering. Its impact is more difficult to tell on my mature plants but nothing negative so far.......not that I expected anything at such a weak solution.
