This is not a definitive answer for you, so I debated posting, but I just bought online (ebay, impulsively) for the first time. I used multiple vendors and am expecting my first, a Zygopetalum, either today or tomorrow. Two more will come next week. I will share more when I get them.
I will state the obvious too in saying that I made a point to read the negative & neutral feedbacks in the last 12 months for that seller when on ebay. One such seller had 100% feedback!! I second the others even before receiving my plants that it is really important to read all the details given by the seller. From the hours I spent looking at plants (don't tell anybody, lol) listings will usually post "representative" blooming shots of what your plant should look like, then some people will list a shot of the actual plant you'll get or they'll list a picture of a plant that yours will look like. Some sellers are very informative others not so much but I would say don't hesitate to ask them questions with regard to plant age and size.
I was trying to hold out to visit Hausermann's in person because I'd like to see all my options and the plants in person but then there's a lot of different plants online that your local greenhouse may not offer so from my limited experience it seems with this addiction you end up buying online and in person.
The plants I'm waiting on from ebay I bought from Dallas Orchid Company, radar_contact_lost & Mijo730 Opals & Orchids. The first two shipped pretty promptly and Mijo contacted me right after I paid through e-mail and said he'd be mailing it Saturday.
Good luck & be sure to keep us posted! Like I said, I'll share more with you as to my experience after I get the plants.

I keep forgetting to ask around to see if there are any free, super easy watermark programs out there anyone would recommend.

The free programs I have used, are not super easy. There are some web based ones that might do the trick for you. Photoshop Express. Flickr now has an image editor built into it and you can always use Picasa.

For my iPhone and iPad, I use PhotoMarkr. It's pretty easy and I think it was free but not sure about now.

I have an Oncidium Twinkle 'Pink Profussion' that I bought from radar_contact_lost. It arrived in flower and I've been thrilled with it. It is a really nice chunky happy little plant.
I hope you have as good of an experience as I have.
Today I received a Paph that I got from IncredibleOrchids (Seattle Orchids) on Ebay. It is blooming size, huge and beautiful. Couldn't be happier.
I don't have any orchid shops or really any knowledgeable nurseries around me. My first orchids have been clearance rescues from Lowes since that is one of the few places I can find orchids. Needless to say, Ebay vendors have been a boon for me, but, like you, I do my research before clicking that 'buy it now' or fiddling around with an auction.

I was just coming here to tell Judith I had a great experience with radar_contact_lost having received my Wilsonara 'Peach Cobbler' today. New to Onc. so I posted a thread with pics and all the OB "experts" said it was a great plant. My inexperienced eye told me it looked good but didn't really know especially since Onc.s apparently have black spots on leaves often. AND AND AND, he sent me a baby Phal. Brother Lawrence x Yellow Brite lites as a gift.
Both very nice plants.
SO Judith, that's a good place to look on ebay if you're interested.
