Hi Gregor, As with much of the Internet, OrchidBoard's user base is mainly American (and I'm in the wrong hemisphere); you'll need European vendors (assuming your profile location is accurate). I think Kavanaru put together a list of european vendors some time back.

The EU of course also includes suppliers from the UK. Of course, buying from vendors closer to you is usually easier. That said, things like IBAN numbers and Euros make things like payment much easier these days, and the unified customs areas means shipping plants has little red tape within Europe. Once you go outside of the EU, you then have to start with phytosanitary certification, and possibly CITES documentation, plus whatever else Slovenia requires for the importation of live plants from overseas.

It can be quite painful to order from outside of your customs border. I have known people who have literally kept plants in their pants when going through customs; the plants weren't illegal, but the red tape was more painful than taping plants to their legs....!

I've bought directly from Burnham at shows and from their nursery. I've always been pleased with what I've bought. I probably wouldn't get Phals from them, simply because they buy those in and sell them on, but they grow a lot of other types themselves and have really good stuff.

The only online purchasing I've done is from David Steed (sadly no longer selling orchids) and from Großräschener Orchideen in Ramon's list in the link above.

I got good plants from both, I know someone whose not so keen on Großräschener Orchideen but I've always been pleased.

yes i know... ordering outiside EU costs so much that it is impossible to order ( aprox. 200$)
they will deffinetely have to do something about that. there are good nurseries outside EU too but i just cant affored to buy from them.

putting them betwen the legs? hmmm hehe i give them 10 ponts for the creativity

Thanks Rosie. i will probably try a Burnham nursery this time.
everyone seem to be satisfied with them. i hope i will be too

Regards
Gregor
