miracle gro mix? Male
Default miracle gro mix?

I keep seeing on here to stay away from the miracle gro mix because its to fine for the orchids. . . But i noticed yesterday at work that there are two kinds. I got a coarse mix which seems to have more bark than the medium they came in. Has anyone else used the coarse mixor is it both that are referred to in the posts?

I saw the "coarse mix" recently also. It must be a newer product. I haven't seen any feedback on it.

I have repotted 2 in it so far one earlier this week and the other yesterday while they were in bloom. And i haven't seen any problems yet. The one from earlier in the week seems to be drying out pretty good so far. But i guess time will tell

Cool their regular, older orchid mix is extremely heavy and dense! Perhaps the folks at Miracle-Gro became aware of the poor reviews and warnings to others to stay away from the original mix

That is my thought. I've never heard of a chunkier mix.

If it is open enough to allow some air to the roots and yet retain some moisture, it should be fine.

I just prefer red lava rock. No worries. For the orchids that need to stay damp, I use sphagnum moss.
