The search for a Dendrobium Sonia PLANT in the USA...

Hi everyone!

I'm an amateur in my 20s (shock lol, I know ) and I've been looking for over 3 years for a Dendrobium Sonia PLANT in the USA.

Does anybody know where I can purchase one? All I find online are CUT stems/flowers, but nobody seems to carry the actual plant. I think this is a STUNNING orchid with superb pink fuschia flowers and I would like to grow it at home.

If not, if anybody has a specimen and would be willing to offer a division, how would I go about this? Apologies if this is not the right place for this but I'm kind of desperate hehehe and I'm trying my luck once again.

Not too long ago, someone else posted that they were looking for one of these. I didn't entirely follow the thread, but recall someone posting that these are mostly grown for the cut flower market - why, I do not know.

On the other hand, I am pretty sure that I've seen members posts of theirs in bloom, but that was a long time ago.

Yeah, I saw a couple of threads too. That's why I'm hoping this will catch someone's attention and they'll have pity on me hehehe.

Too bad you can't just 'grow' orchids from stems (at least not that I'm aware) as you can do with roses :P, that would make life so much simpler!

I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

I don't know if they might have it, but it may be worth a call to H&R Nurseries in Hawaii to ask ...

I'll give them a call tomorrow . I didn't see it in their inventory but they may have it, just not listed. Although I did contact a Hawaiian nursery before and they say they don't carry it anymore because it was 'hard to grow'. I find that fishy, being such a spectacular color and seen in many restaurants etc. I still can't believe plants aren't easily commercially available here .
