I'm thinking by looking at the leaves rotting from base outward...crown rot is it mushy? If so put some peroxide in the crown of the plant let soak for a few mins, then tip it out and blott with a kleenex. Also cinnamon in the crown will help to stop the rot. Crown rot is very hard to save a plant, but can be done if caught early enough. I have managed to save 1 plant. Good luck!!!

So, I just took the plant out of it's pot, and the roots seem fine. They're nice and green, didn't find any brown/black/mushy ones, other than a couple tiny ends at the bottom. However, there was a big wad of moss directly under the crown that was black and seemed to be rotting. I took all the moss out that I could, and put in new back orchid mix. I hope it was caught early enough to fix it still has several seemingly healthy leaves, as well as a budded flower stem. How long should I wait before resuming watering? Anything else I should do? and how long should I keep it away from my other two?

I would treat with some Physan and water it about half as much as you have been.

Hopefully it will be fine.

If the plant does not get worse over the next two to three weeks I would think it is safe enough to bring back with your other plants.

Thanks for the help, I hope I can salvage it! There are lots of green, healthy leaves, so I'm hopeful.

It looks like you caught it in time. a skewer left in the pot really does help. I get a cheap pack and put them in every plant. Then when it is dry or almost, it is time to water.

If you're using sphagnum moss you should let it get crunchy dry on top before you water again. That piece of advice saved my whole collection when I was starting and overwatering Phals in sphag ! Every damn book I read said the same thing about watering JUST BEFORE it goes dry which is NOT NATURAL because in nature it doesn't happen that way unless it's in Oregon or Washington State, LOL !!! They DO have dry spells in nature and, even when they don't, like Silken said, their roots are exposed to air and dry out a lot quicker than when contained in a pot ! That's the other advice that helped me as a novice, "the WORST thing you can do to your orchids is put them in a pot" !!!! Unless, of course, they're terrestrials !

So, in other words, try to imitate nature as best you can and you will see the results in your chids !!
