Mini mini orchid suggestions
Default Mini mini orchid suggestions

Hello, quick intro: I'm a new member here on the boards who has been in and out of the orchid hobby. One thing that I have always been able to keep as a constant though are my miniatures.

So, I am working on another mini project: a very eccentric themed desk vivarium. Details and photos will be released as I progress further.

Anyway, I'm sure the question of the tiniest of orchids must be common here. Normally, the focus is on the blooms, but I'm also looking for mini mini leaves as well. Basically, if you were to insert it into a scale model scene, it would look like a well proportioned plant. This is where my current collection of masdevallias and draculas fall short [or too big].

Could anyone suggest an epiphytic miniature that fits the description? I would love to have it be the eyepopper too amongst the surrounding tillandsias and ferns. I was thinking about using this as a reason to give restrepias a go so would anyone know of some that could work?

edit: thought I'd bump this old thread rather than make a new one. Forgive me for the gravedig.

Here is the project I was speaking of.

Just some notes on the tank. Got a new coralife mini, which runs two 6700k day light bulbs. Max temps with circulation is 84degreesF, with it going down lowest to 69degrees at night. Humidity is from 85%-100.

Looking to fit in three minis, [two from the tree fern panels on the wall] and one from a minipot to the bottom left corner.

I have some bulbophyllum moniliforme growing in another tank. I was thinking of creating a little bit of a shade block on the right end where it can drape down without direct lighting.

Would Lepanthopsis astrophora work, or is the tank too warm?
