Exclamation harrisoniana 'Volcano Queen' AM/AOS

My catt is growing a spike and when it started breaking through the sheath I cut it open. After a few weeks the spike grew about an inch. The spike is just a stick with nobes, no buds yet. I noticed the tip was starting to yellow so I cut it off. it's was only like a centimeter, but will it not flower now?

How are you? I'm new to Orchids myself so I don't think I can be much help. I have always heard that you shouldn't cut the spike until after it is done blooming or unless you want to try to make it branch. I'm no expert on this but if the spike is young enough maybe it branch or try to come back but I don't think it should be cut unless it is totaly dead but as I said I'm new, hopefully someone with more Orchid expereince will be along to help better
