Coelogyne	Cristata P. bulbs are shrivel Female
Default Coelogyne Cristata P. bulbs are shrivel

Hi OB,

After flowering Coelogyne Cristata P. bulbs are shriveled, I am watering them regularly but still they look shriveled. it's in the original basket that came from Andy's Orchids in January this year. Is this normal, do I need to repot it in fresh media, I feel a bit of smell in the basket.

Please advise.

You need to water more. This plant requires constant moisture (except possibly to induce buds).

I have found with Coelogynes in general (and cristata in particular) they do tend to shed leaves on the old p-bulbs and see that sort of shriveling. And then they climb out of the basket, roots in the air. The new p-bulbs are fine, these are ramblers. Maybe I would see different performance if they had a constantly-humid greenhouse but they get what they get and seem to do fine. This one I grow outside, I do see similar behabior, though, on the Coel species that I grow in the greenhouse.

I echo not to let it get dry. This is a wet-growing plant.
