aparnamane, my apologies, I accidentally deleted the post trying to clean up the duplicates!

Here is what I responded:

Even if the Amazon sale of back bulbs is legitimate, it can take years to get them to bloom. If they survive.

If you want a Cymbidium, you likely can get it from a big box store like Home Depot or Walmart or even Trader Joe's depending on where you live. They will appear around December or January when they are in bloom. Usually don't have names, but you'll get a big, husky plant for a good price. Or buy from a reputable vendor such as Santa Barbara Orchid Estate or Casa de la Orquideas. And if you live in a place with hard freezes in winter such that you have to bring them in, look for the so-called warmth-tolerant Cyms (all Cyms can handle temperatures over 100 deg F with a little shading, but these particular ones will bloom withough the fall cool down). Cyms also can tolerate light frost.

Buy a healthy plant! Those back bulbs are no bargain.

Now I see that you're in Vista. You could easily get to Casa de las Orquideas, they are located in Solana Beach. Except for Open Houses, they are only open by appointment, just give them a call. They have outstanding, award-winning plants.

Hi Roberta,

Thanks.

I was thinking same thing last week to visit Casa de las Orquideas (I saw on their website that they have lot of options for Cymbidium hybrids), somehow I didn't make it, but I am glad I didn't I was not aware about appointment, good to know.

Thanks
