Thanks to both of you. I really appreciate the feedback and your help. %^)

Okay - then I should be good with the mold on top of the plant (though I will keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't spread into the pot), and I can rinse it off if it gets too heavy-duty. And I should just let the plant grow and look to transplant in a couple of years.

And maybe a flower spike or two will show up in that time.

(It'll be interesting to see how the winter affects what I'm doing. But hey - it's all a learning process.)

That's not mold on the top of the pot, just a bit of harmless algae. It won't infect the plant, it just grows wherever there is light and moisture. So no worries...
