Orchids that are less than perfect - can someone evaluate?
Default Orchids that are less than perfect - can someone evaluate?

I知 so glad I found somewhere to post this!
So I usually buy multiple orchids at once to save money, from various suppliers. eBay, Facebook, Etsy, etc.

I am still what I consider somewhat new to this hobby, but I decided to offer the extra plants at the reduced pricing to friends and family members so they can get better deals.

However that means I知 even more paranoid about these plants than if they were for myself only. I want to make sure they are excellent plants, what to look out for, and that I知 actually offering good deals. It痴 a little scary!

So anyway I値l attach some pictures of 吐laws that I see and if anyone could evaluate them and let me know if they look ok?

As for my growing conditions here goes: I live in Michigan, I have a humidifier that is connected to my phone and the thermometer/hygrometer. It keeps humidity in the 60% range.
I use a fan in my growing areas during the day, and at night I have an ac I set to 66 degrees F. Temps during the day range from mid to high 70s F. Occasionally the plants in my living room might hit low 80s before I get up and run the ac.
Living room has east facing windows, bedroom has west facing windows.
I have started using rubbing alcohol on my scissors (instead of soap and water), I do repot at some point, but still have some plants to go. (Need more potting media and pots)
I started spraying with a rubbing alcohol/water/dish soap spray just as prevention.
The people I have bought from said they spray frequently for pests and things.
I think that covers everything I知 doing with my plants so far! Please let me know if I forgot to include anything.

I don't see anything wrong with your plants. If I wanted plants always perfect, without a single flaw, I would grow plants made of plastic.

Well that does make me feel a bit better! I have some that are flawless. Some that are close to it. But others with a blemish here or there, or a broken/bent leaf or whatever.

I知 still new enough to these and there痴 so many conflicting opinions that I really don稚 know if the plants I致e got are good or not!

I don稚 know what exactly caused the blemishes on the plants I have, but I suspect maybe water splashing or pests, but I know they致e been treated and I知 trying to be very careful.

I agree these are normal flaws (likely mechanical damage) that don't indicate any underlying issues.

Oh thank goodness!! Pretty much everything has new growth and some have spikes/buds.

Though the thing with the Miltoniopsis was weird - the blooms had crisp colors, then the white edges started to turn pink, and the petals started to look almostruffled? I wondered if maybe they needed more water? Maybe a humidity thing??

Miltoniopsis do need to stay moist. But your humidity sounds quite high enough. That damage at the edge of flowers sounds a lot more like what thrips do to flowers. (I HATE thrips...) I don't find that they damage the plants particularly, but do tend to trash flowers.

For perfect leaves, I like rbarata's approach. I grow outside, have plenty of ugly leaves, but the plants grow and bloom happily.
