Yes thank you!

Are you suggesting that I should put this one outside where the temperatures will drop? Currently the night lows are about 70F and they will continue to drop.

What are your current daytime highs? I can't put anything outside yet because it still might get to 110 F / 42C.

I just wanted to share my excitement. My coel Jannine Banks produced a new spike in December and I saw the flower spike a week ago.

To discuss the care, I leave this one under the brightest grow lights I have in my house. The oscillating fan blows directly on it as it passes. I water it almost every day. If I have to leave for a few days, I just water more than normal and it does just fine for 3-5 days. Now in the winter, it’s a little colder in the house and the air is very dry. It naturally doesn’t get as much moisture because of this. I skip some days here and there.

I’ll share again when it blooms.

Edit: sorry for the sideways pictures lately. My new phone doesn’t know any better.

These photos were taken February 2 and they bloomed for almost a whole month. They were the first blooms of the year for me and taking photos of flowers is new to me. I guess this justifies my purchase.

Edit: Are the yfragrant? Yes but I don’t like it and my husband does. It only happens in the morning and the smell is kind of like an over ripe banana. it’ll permeate the room. I’ll take the smell and keep the blooms any day

I’ll see where I can obtain those. Coelogynes are definitely weird orchids. Thanks 😊

Don't get Coelogyne barbata. It is a very temperamental species. After checking its roots for health it has steadily declined with nothing really changed.
