No worries leafmite, you just made me conscious of giving out advice about electrical products.

It reminded me of a review I read recently where the person recommended it to clients after trying the product - the clients were sent fake products which obviously reflects badly on the person making the recommendation.

But we should all switch to LED's. They literally pay for themselves. That is how I have justified replacing my fluorescents, anything the led's cost they make up for in saved electricity within a couple of years. (also improved growth vs fluorescent)

In a year or so I'll be moving and I plan to build a proper orchid cabinet with LED strip lights. However, for the time being, I'd prefer a less expensive and especially more space-saving solution.
So here is my question(s). Is it a good idea to use a LED bulb, I mean an E27 or E26 bulb, mounted on a standard Ikea desk lamp?
If you want led lights that screw in to existing sockets, I know that people are generally happy with SANSI E27 led grow light bulbs. They're affordable and do their job.

Here is the link to one on amazon (because they have all the spec charts there too). One of the images is a chart showing tthe surface area and PPDF according to the height the light is placed at. This is the 10W model, and if it isn't enough, they have plenty of other wattages (up to at least 36 I think, if not more).
