Recently, I got a den parishii and the blooms are starting to fade. This plant also has two points of new growth and seems like it could use some more space. Is this a good time to repot?

Additionally, one of the canes fell off; I have heard that keikis can form on the canes, but is there anything I can do facilitate their growth? Or is it not possible on this cane? Thank you for your time

It does look like a candidate for repotting. The old cane that fell off won't do anything - it fell off because it has done its thing. You have plenty of good canes, it looks like a very healthy plant.

I agree with Roberta. With the new growth there will be new roots. Excellent time to repot into something larger. And you should be enjoying nice blooms by late summer!

Agree 100% is not outgrowing the pot, and it hasn't started the growth cycle.

But if you want a nicer pot change it without touching anything just like a switching. But is not need it I think.

In regard to the cane, you have the doubt of lot of people out there. If I tell how much time I spend trying to grow keikis form a cane ...buffff, what a waisted time, all those videos out there are just like since fiction.

It is so much easy to buy some flasks or a new nice looking plant.

Good luck

I just looked more closely at the pot - it looks like those soft plastic pots that growers use, that has one big hole in the bottom and doesn't drain well. So the next pot should not be much bigger - orchids do like to be somewhat pot-bound, but a pot with better drainage would be beneficial.

Yes, I am planning on moving it into a clear insert pot with aeration holes and a moss/bark mix. When I repot it, should I gently break up the root ball to facilitate the growth of roots in the new media? Or is it best to leave it untouched?

THose roots look great, I would leave them as undisturbed as possible unless the medium is bad. Why mess with a good thing? What I have found is that when there is a tight root ball like that, the new roots spread out into the new medium. At the next repot, in a few years, the center will not be so tight, some of the oldest roots will have died, and you can clean it up without brutalizing it. Unless there is a good reason to do more, I'd leave it alone for this round.
