Psychopsis help?
Default Psychopsis help?

I recently acquired a Psychopsis Kahlili in spike, and with a growing bud! I know they are sequential bloomers, however, I accidentally knocked the bud off and feel absolutely awful about it. I know the plant will be okay, but is there any hope for a branching spike or anything to that effect? It's been about a month since, and I'm still kind of upset about the whole thing, so I would like some advice. thank you so much!

That sort-of thing is frustrating, but the only thing to do is to be patient. If you are giving the plant the conditions and care it needs, that spike will continue growing and blooming.

Nope. Just wait for a new one.

It’s happened to us all with one plant or another

I know someone that did that years back. It regrew the top, and branched from a couple of the nodes below the tip. It kept blooming from all 3 places for a while.

If it's just the bud you knocked off, they'll be a new one growing within a few weeks. If you broke the tip of the spike off, there's a fair chance that the spike will branch out a couple nodes lower.

On my Psychopsis it has happened a couple times over the years that the tip dies back, and in nearly all cases I got side branches on those spikes. Oh, and I think you know if already, but don't cut spikes off until they're completely dead and crispy dry, they will bloom for at least 6-7 years, if not longer.
