Since repotting I have seen prolific root growth and two new growths starting! I think it may be happy with my care so far. Let's hope it remains so

As I stated recently elsewhere, we had a wind event here that knocked over my plants in s/h. This plant was only partially dislodged from its pot. After getting things back together, I was examining it, as I do everyday because it brings me a small joy, and discovered this in the oldest of the three new growths. Notice from earlier photos this plant has two leaves per pbulb. Could this be, just possibly, a sheath? I certainly hope so!

Definitely. It will be expected that this sort of orchid produces 'at most' two leaves per bulb. So that structure that is growing is a sheath.

Great progression Dusty.
It seems like things have happened very fast with this. Cattleya hybrids are excellent candidates for s/h but this one is outdoing itself.
So have you just got one strand of rockwool running along the outside or is there more in the pot?
I'm thinking of trying rockwool next and I'm liking your results so what you are doing seems to be going well.

When I potted this, rockwool was a new possibility for me as I'd never heard of using it. I ordered a small bag of the small cubes and incorporated it into the leca. This is my first attempt at s/h. I would say it is going well. It is also my first catt hybrid, so it is a learning curve in all directions. Thanks for the kind words.

How wonderful to see how this orchid is just exploding with growth! I hope to see pictures of it blooming posted here soon!

Doing a little maintenance this morning since the s/h pots needed a little attention after their recent mishap. I noticed something new on the Gold Digger. Another new sheath from the second of three new growths!
I can't begin to tell you how elated I am to think that this plant was divided in the fall in NJ and mailed to me in the spring. It was immediately repotted in s/h, so I didn't expect much this year.

Lc Gold Digger is a wonderful, vigorous and floriferous hybrid. Great expectations for this one!
