3 Keiki's and only one spike? Male
Default 3 Keiki's and only one spike?

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or can make an educated guess in regards to phal keikis going into spike?
The mother phal has the one big spike with 3 keikis and one of those keikis has gone into spike and the blooms opening now!
But, my question is since the other 2 keikis are exact clones, born at the same time and growing in same conditions why didn't they go into spike?
Has anyone ever had or seen this situation where both or all keikis had all gone into spike?
Does the whole orchid and keikis function as one big plant and thus just share the one spike?

Also, Dean of Orchid Insanity who sold me the Keiki paste suggested after these bloomS finish I might try for a third generation on this current spike! What do you think of that? Fun interesting idea or crazy?
Has anyone ever tried for a phal with three generations on the one plant?
Last question, might they grow like this in their natural habitat?

Thanks

It looks like the parent is investing the bulk of its resources in the keikis. In nature the spike would flop, the keikis would root into the substrate, and then the keikis would start pulling their own weight. I think if you rigged something so that the keikis could root into media you might see more blooms. Right now resources are limited to what the parent root system (one plant) can furnish.

Be cool to lay it out on some wood/log with some moss and create a forrest type environment!
