phalaenopsis yellow leaf - Possible causes? Female
Default phalaenopsis yellow leaf - Possible causes?

A friend of mine has this orchid with a yellowing leaf. I can ask for more pictures if needed. Any idea why it's yellowing from the tip inwards?

I know if it was a bottom leaf it would be normal yellowing usually but this one is second to the top. All the googling says things like over watering, crown rot , etc.

Would one leaf be indicative of an issue? The rest look good. She is going to check the roots just in case .

It may or may not be related, but the plant looks pretty dry (I see a little bit of wrinkling on leaves, too) That large bark is great for giving air to the roots, but it dries out much faster than what it likely was in before. Remember, watering schedule needs to be based on the needs of the particular plant in its particular medium, not by the calendar.

Thanks Roberta . I was thinking that one leaf looked dry too. I'll mention it to her. Thank You!!
