Default Too much light

Hey all- I’ve got a question about grow lights. I have my orchids placed about 8 inches away from their full spectrum grow lights. Recently I bought an orchid on the discount shelf that had a full spike, with very small buds. Given that the orchid only had 3 small fragile looking leaves I considered clipping the stem to focus on vegetative growth. However since it’s winter and most of my orchids are “rescues” I don’t have any in bloom, so I decided to wait it out. It’s been about a month now with seemingly no change, the buds were still closed. But yesterday my lights got unplugged and the first bud finally opened!! Could it be that it was receiving too much light? If so I don’t want to make this mistake in the future.

A month or so is about right for buds to develope and bloom. I agree with ES, most likely just a coincidence.
