Is this just physical damage from transport or something to worry about? Have had the plant for a few months. Tons of new roots.

Superficial damage that looks old, could have happened in shipment or before. Totally nothing to worry about. New roots are GOOD. It's a wonderful, classic hybrid.

In addition it's not getting enough water. The leaves are quite wrinkled.
