What kind of a terrarium are you looking at? I have limited experience but can try to help.

I guess I should restate: do you have a particular build/model in mind? There are some shaped glass ones, those made for reptiles, fish tanks, etc... What you use is an important first step. What you plan to put in there is also equally important.

Fish tank is what I think I am going to use. I am going to put some miniatures in it, I dont have any miniatures yet but the ones I plan on getting are porroglossum teagueii and a miniature phal. I dont know what else I will put in there. The porroglossum is a maybe because I dont know if it will grow well in a terrarium, but I think it will.

Ok, a few things jump out at me immediately.

Porroglossums are from Ecuador and reside in their cloud forests. To grow this one, you will need not only good humidity but to keep your tank somewhat cool, say 70F and below. At those temps, the Phal may work but it may also not experience Enough temperature differential to signal bloom initiation.

The key here is to build your terrarium to a specific environment (cloud forest of Ecuador, rain forest in Singapore, etc...), then test it over and over to ensure appropriate lighting, temp fluctuations, humidity and air flow, then find suitable plants for that environment.

Does that make any sense? And does that help a bit?

First you need to decied on a temp range for your tank. Honestly an I-W tank is what I would go for. Both those would do fine. Air circulation and humidity will be the biggest things that will give you problems.

Do you have a tank? How big is it?
