I haven't had that experience either. For some the "shedding" may be at the same time as flowering (have seen it on Cyms) but it certainly isn't a general pattern. Actually, one needs to be very careful about any generalization... orchids are so variable that most will be wrong a significant part of the time. It is really easy to remember the successes and forget the failures. For instance, if one says "pot Cattleyas in the spring" they will end up growing those for which that's the correct thing to do, and not have the ones where it isn't (because they went to the great compost pile in the sky). Sort of a self-fulfilling prophesy.

How would you feel if that happened to you Her Vanda was n worse shape than mine too! I know it could be pure coincidence or this grower has done better than me this year and erm that just isn't on tbh
If A and B it doesn't stand to reason that A caused B or B caused A because it could be that C causes both A and B.
Was your plant shipped, or did you pick it out. You'll probably guess that I'm thinking overheating in the sun during shipment might cause both redness and sulking.

Many of the strap leaved Vandas will grow like weeds given very intense lighting, as in nearly full sun. But they will develop some red or burn if you increase the light level suddenly.

I've never grown a terete-leaf vanda, but I believe they like even more intense light.
