Calling on all experienced orchidists, or those in the know: On belalf of myself, and perhaps those less experienced, Is there a cyclical nature to when online retailers and other vendors offer their plants? I also assume that it depends on their suppliers.
If so, what are they? Anyone feel like starting a thread and including some ideas? I know I'de like to know approx. when to look for something- perhaps others too?
Anyone else with ideas or feedback? Hope I am not overstepping.
All feedback welcome

Rhonda,

This goes back to more or less the same issues as mentioned in the other thread.

Growers produce a lot of their own material. Most start releasing the plants as soon as they are established in 2" pots. They will carry an item for 2 or 3 years (till it is sold out). They are releasing new items randomly throughout the year.

Resellers buy most of their material from HI, and resell locally. This can be at shows (currently all shows are suspended), or on Ebay. Some also maintain a web site, where you can order plants.

'In-Betweens', who do a little of both (like myself). Absent Covid-19, I would start to build up inventory in the fall, so I would have plants available for the winter shows. As I sell down the inventory, I bring more plant material in. Note that what is available from HI is continuously changing.
