1) nice ‘tamaters!

2) holy schamoley!!! I have never seen anything like that!! And is it diverted rainwater from off your roof? Or is there some other catchment method?

Sorry for the questions but this is so cool!!

Yep, just comes off the roof and into the tanks. Then the water goes through three filters and a UV light before coming into the house. We still buy our drinking water, but we brush teeth, wash dishes, shower, and flush toilets with the collected rainwater.

The orchids don't get any filtration. There were trees above the orchid water catchment when I moved in and plenty of dead vegetation collected in there. The water is kind of stinky when it comes out, but the plants love it. Free nutrients injected with oxygen as it comes out of the water wand means plenty of happy plants!

Good Grief Steve! That's serious storage. I've never seen anything quite like it. I've seen plenty of cisterns in my life, but this big boys take the cake!

PS... Hey Steve...you have a tomato that's attempting escape. I think it's using that board as a ramp to jump on top and dive in. Better get that taken care of!

i am truly amazed....so now i have to add this to my dream house list LOL

the remarkable thing is that, while MASSIVE, they are not that disruptive to the yard. so cool and so glad you use them...i could easily see someone move in and have them removed as a nuisance

one person's trash and what not

Right? I can still remember coming home about two weeks after moving into my present house, to find my husband filling a 1500 gallon in-ground cistern next to the house, PLUS a root cellar, with construction debris (lath, plaster, bricks, etc). Totally full, top of brick lined root cellar caved in and filled. And burning down an outside wash shed and two-hole outhouse. The rationale was the young kids could get hurt and/or fall in. I could've shot him.... I was sooooo mad.

I call him ex-husband now. Should have just gone ahead and shot him then and hit the body at bottom of cistern. Ah regrets....

It simply amazes me at times, our disposable society.

Ahhhhhh I hate that story!! So much. Ugh. Guy deserves a throat punch. (I may have agreed about the outhouse, but that could easily be secured and made safe.)

Disposable society indeed.

I have a tough relationship with plastic cups and paper plates
