Yesterday I unpotted a dead orchid, to see if the roots were the problem. Upon taking it out of the pot, hundreds of tiny, fast moving critters scattered in all directions from the bark mix.(1) What are they? (2) I immediately made a mix of Safer's soap and water and soaked all the plants on that shelf,(except some compots).Should I do the same for all the plants in that area? (3) How do I insure that this won't happen again. (4) Could they have been responsible for the demise of the plant? I have never even seen a bug in this area. I couldn't even see any on the dead plant, as they were all in the soil.Thnks for any help you can offer, I've only been doing this for a year or two, but I have over 30 plants, and about 40 seedlings in compots. I would hate to lose them. (John)
