I just realised that lately I almost never bought an orchid in bloom...
there was that Valpota's night the other day (but it was bloom ending) and then...last february when I bought a "baggie" pink chinese cymbidium. In between, I had other orchids...of course...but not blooming ones.
In my early days as an orchid fiend (in those time when I decided to buy one for each month of "less cigarettes") I only bought orchids in bloom. but then I began to order young plants and of course it's very rewarding when a young plant comes to bloom but you have to be patient and sometimes when you're surrounded by lettuce months seem very long and you keep on looking closely everyday or so, in hope for a stem growing...but i feel pure joy when finally the bloom occurs...
Of course it's safer to by blooming orchids cause you see what you get..I wonder if I find it more fun..Maybe...but sometimes its also very disappointing...
