I wanted so badly that beautiful Laelia..."Laelia tenebrosa Valpota's night"!
After searching for it for a certain time, I found one and ordered for it in a german nursery..I reveived it in bloom : an absolute beauty!
Still, the medium was awfull : very old and compact and surrounded by seaweed at a point when it would suffocate it.
Then the blooming time was over and as I have a rule never to repot a cattleya if roots does put new growth. I awfully hesitated ...and posted here in two different areas to ask for advice...but as no one aswered, I finally decided today to repot it as an emergency : the degrading medium beeing surely nocive to the plant
It took me some hours to clean the laelia from this old medium and I have never seen such an old one. It was made of bark, moss, sphagnum, vermiculite, and two or three more things...All incredibly compact...as stone.
Now the little one is in a new pot with fresh medium I tenderly made for it and I can only hope that it will put new roots quite soon...
It has to rest anyway because of repotting and after bloom rest...
