It definitely is a wonderful experience! People wander into the orchid show area with glasses of wine and stroll around, enjoying the show.

Just in case anyone is curious, here is what I bought:

The Hausermann Neo, Phal. Fuller's Sunset, Phalaenopsis FANGtastic Green Envy “Judy Su', two Angraecum didieri, and Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' (I am thinking four years from blooming from the size of it and the thin roots). The other Phal, was for my parents and is Phal White Dream 'V3'.

Nice plants!!! I looked at a couple of those but, I just have too many phals. I'm okay until things start to spike. Still, I did see a teeny, tiny, Epidendrum...

There is always something else....

After this last order, I am out of space so tomorrow's orchid show should be interesting.

Do you get more when they bloom? I do when something blooms and I just don't like it so I get rid of it and have space for more. If it is a first bloom seedling, I give it a few bloom rounds to see if it gets better but, if it doesn't...gone. Fragrance is the big reason I get rid of orchids. I buy a species or cross that should be fragrant but then it blooms a few times and never is...gone.

I think I have a nice collection of orchids right now, though, and would be loath to get rid of anything...which means that I won't be having much space for new ones.

When things go into spike, and they seem to do it all at once, space becomes more challenging. I'm constantly rearranging. Especially oncidiums!

Oncidiums are so pretty, though! I am always tempted until I remember the days when I grew a bunch. I think I will just stick with the Nelly Isler.

Good luck! Space is always an issue for the in-the-home grower. People who live in areas where orchids can be grown outside will never quite understand....

For me, the most dangerous combo would be a local orchid show at which both Andy's Orchids and Ecuagenera where to show.

Of course there is always more room. Now you get some minis or micro minis and hang them from your other plants or set them on top of the other pots media. See? Vastly increasing your growing area.
