I tried to grow it but it died. A friend had them(he moved, it's still there as far as anyone knows)in an in ground bog just outside Boston, zone 5A and it was completely hardy.

Yes. Same pot with odorata in full afternoon sun. Much smaller and blooms earlier than odorata. Commercial bonsai mix in a pot with an exterior liner (like S/H).
