This isn't exactly vendor feedback but I was wondering how often they take preorders for shows through emails. I sent them an email with the price list two days ago and the deadline for preorders for the next US show is the 6th. I heard that they sometimes don't check their emails and end up missing orders. I'm not ordering from them directly through their webpage because i found Lepanthes escobariana on the pricelist and wanted to see if they still have any available. Should I just ditch the email and directly order online or wait?

I wish I could help you but when I have ordered from Ecuagenera, I have always done a group order with other members of my society and someone else did the ordering. I know that the person who did the ordering did get into contact with questions and such but I am not sure how he contacted them.

I prefer to buy from them at a show as they can usually recommend orchids that would be perfect for my growing conditions and give me extra advice on the care.

I've done both in the past but last two were via email/spreadsheet. I haven't cut it that close, though.

Last order went like this:

Their show/preorder announcement.
Sent my order 11 days later.
They replied with paypal notice in 8 days.
The show was almost a month later.

If this doesn't help at least people know what to expect.

And how does it work? One pays online and then gets the plants at the show without paying shipping, certificates, etc?

I bought from them at a show and made a huge mistake of providing my e mail address. Now even though I tried unsubscribing several times, I keep getting their e mails.
I had problems with plant I bought and after a few trials I was able to contact the owner . He offered to replace if I return original one.... of course at my expense.... understandably.
Anyway with time and TLC plant recovered but hasn't bloomed yet... it was blooming size 2 yrs ago.
People generally have good experiences with them from what I hear. Better to buy in person if you don't want monthly e mails forever.

I'm not sure what I did right or you did wrong, but I pre-ordered a few plants for pickup at a local show this past spring which were all I expected and more, and I haven't received a single email from them since the order confirmation. Fwiw I have found that contacting them through FB seems to get a quicker reply.

The only email I get from them is when they are announcing show preorders.

Yes that's what I get and it was quite a bit, it is not just once or twice a year thing.... I think they attend several shows and then send e mails.
My only gripe is that I tried unsubscribing several times and still kept getting e mails.

And my plant ( bought at Redlands) eventually recovered. Healthy now..... whatever was ailing it, caused it a severe set back and I have yet to see blooms. Hopefully soon.
I am just sharing my experience... no intention to malign them. Many people I know had excellent experience with them.
