I did visit him once! It was long ago, when we were on our way to join family for vacation. We went a little out of our way and stopped at his place. A few orchids spent a three day weekend camping.
I have also ordered from him online. During a particularly cold winter many years ago, he let me know a few times that my plants were still set aside for me and kept me updated on my plants (one bloomed). It was a very thoughtful and nice touch. I would say that, as far as service goes, you cannot beat Al's Orchid Greenhouse.

It's here! My order from NWO arrived this afternoon and it is amazing! I knew the Kuroshinjyu was tiny but it's smaller than I expected. Kristen added a heat pack and sent the little one on Monday, thankfully the temperatures have been above freezing. This was supposed to have 3 fans but there are 4. What an awesome little Neofinetia. Here is a tiny picture.

Carol, it was OHIO, not Indiana. People in Ohio daydream about being ANYWHERE else!!

What a cute little Neofinetia! I love these things, and they seem to grow like weeds in my kitchen window. I hope it won't be too long before you show us blooms!

U bada, I'm fairly new to Neos, just started hoarding them in November and I have 7 now. They truly are addicting. While waiting for this Kuroshinjyu to ship I also won a Suikaden from Seed Engei on eBay, it arrived today too. It's hopeless.....I love it.

Jkofferdahl, I hope so too. I grow mine in a north window under lights for now. They are in my dinning room where it's much cooler. I recently added a humidifier so I'll keep my fingers crossed for blooms.

Neofinetia are such an interesting orchid, they are just fascinating to me, I keep looking for more. Once these start blooming I may really be in trouble. Good thing they are small.

Interesting! I grow mine in among my Phals, so a warmer area than yours are in. They're in an eastern window and have supplemental artificial lighting, so pretty bright light. I've had them in cooler areas, but always at the high end of their light scale. They seem about as tolerant an orchid as I can imagine.

By the way, if you're taken by Neofinetias then check out a species called Amesiella monticola. It also has a small white flower and a long white spur, and will grow happily alongside Neofinetias.
